Do new technologies in Museums mean new job opportunities in Portugal? Do we have new professional profiles? Which skills do professionals need to modernize cultural heritage and make museum visits an unforgettable experience?
On 4 April Mapa das Ideias organised a Workshop in Lisbon, within the framework of eCult Skills, aiming at identifying the necessary skills and competences for professions in the field of Culture, in order to better meet the demands of this market. Project partners together with several important members of the Portuguese cultural field participated in the WS. Participants were divided into groups in order to discuss the five identified job profiles:
- Cultural ICT Specialist/Ambassador
- Digital Cultural Asset Manager
- Interactive Cultural Experience Developer
- Cultural Community Manager
- ICT Cultural Guide/Mentor
Objective of this exercise was the analysis of the first draft of the the job roles, as identified by the project group experts, by each group. Particular attention was given to the existence of the role profiles in the organisations represented in the WS. In case of non-existence of such a position, it was analyzed who would handle these tasks and whether an institution/organization could profit from having such a professional in its internal team.
The improved role profiles will be made available on the e-culture focus area of the e-Jobs Observatory in the upcoming months for evaluation by external experts.
